What a fascinatingly horrific story! They’re there illegally and the government was afraid to send someone down because they might kill them. Poverty so bad they’d rather risk this. And a government trying to prevent damage to their country, I imagine.

This did make me cancel my WSJ though. They made it hell to login (username field wouldn’t focus on Chrome on iOS). If it were easier or left me logged in I’d have kept paying I think.
